Medical Connector Adhesives

Medical Cyanoacrylate Adhesives

Cyanoacrylate Adhesives

General Properties and Tips

  • Bonding generally takes place within a few seconds, meaning that pre-assembly of parts is usually required.
  • Joint designs for low viscosity materials should allow a gap of 0.1mm. Higher viscosity materials can fill gaps up to 2mm.
  • When the correct adhesive is selected and applied properly plastic materials will generally break before the joint under a tensile test.
  • If your joint is not performing as well as it should, try cleaning the mating surfaces with a primer applied by brush.
  • A common cause of failed joints is the application of too much adhesive.
  • Lo bloom grades are developed to avoid discolouration of adjacent surfaces.
  • These materials are compatible with gamma and EO sterilisation methods.
  • Cyanoacrylate will bond skin. It should be handled carefully
  • Materials can be stored for up to 12 months below 5°C in the dark

Medical UV & Light Cured Adhesives

UV Adhesives RAnge

General Properties and Tips

  • Bonding occurs when the adhesive is illuminated by activating light. This allows parts to be assembled with adhesive in place. The adhesive may then be cured when required. Curing generally takes place within 20 seconds.
  • UV illumination at around 365nm is normally required although this can be adjusted by formulation of the adhesive.
  • Cure depths are generally up to 3 mm, but shadow cure grades carry on curing after illumination.
  • Joint designs for low viscosity materials should allow a gap of 1mm. Higher viscosity materials can fill gaps up to 2 mm.
  • When the correct adhesive is selected and applied properly plastic materials will generally break before the joint under a tensile test.
  • Bonds generally have some flexibility.
  • All our UV cure materials are optically clear.
  • These materials are compatible with gamma and EO sterilisation methods.
  • Materials can be stored for up to 12 months below 5°C in the dark.

RI-ACT® Colour Change Medical UV Adhesives

Your UV adhesive curing process is now easier to validate! Your bonding operations can now benefit from the superb new, patented range of RI-ACT® medical device adhesives that give an indication of their own curing by changing colour during exposure to UV.

Benefits of RI-ACT® Colour Change

  • Change from coloured to clear, or clear to coloured (colour coding of devices)
  • Evidence that adhesive has been applied
  • Verification that bond has been irradiated
  • Confirmation that curing is complete
  • Possibility to verify presence of clear adhesive post-curing by fluorescence
  • Perfect for automated vision inspection systems
  • The colour change is proportional to degree of cure
